Location
The building to the right with the two white double doors is our SEWING Studio for the week. The pool is to the left, and our DORM rooms are normally the building behind the pool area (not seen in photo). Parking lot is to the left, between the two buildings seen behind the pool.
Get Away From It All To Do What You Love
Our 20th Annual retreat was July 8-14, 2025. We arrived after 1 PM on the first day, and departed after lunch on the last day. We had 24 hours of help over 5 days from Ginny and Lyra (our PROS). This event has been held at Sonoma State University college campus each year, though we’ve been to a few different locations on campus. We finally found the perfect spot, Beaujolais Village, for our sewing needs. The building is equipped with an air-conditioned sewing studio and a gorgeous setting. Water fountain, grassy slopes, and the pool close by, which we have access to while on campus, the extra perks of the week. We also were made aware this year that the gym is at our disposal for a daily $5 fee on weekdays during our stay for those that want to go to the gym. Beaujolais Village housing complex was constructed in 1972.
We stayed on campus in the quad dorm apartments, which offer a private bedroom (twin bed, desk, and chair), along with a private bathroom to each attendee. There are four bedrooms in each apartment, that share a living area (sofa, chairs, table) and kitchen (table and 4 chairs). The dorm rooms are emptied of all kitchen supplies, so if you want coffee (other than at meal times) you bring your pot, cup, spoon, and coffee with you. (OR buzz across street to Starbucks!). Your ‘Room/Meal’ key card gives you access to your front door and bedroom door–and is also used to get in to the dining hall for all meals. Most of us just wore a lanyard around our neck with this card so we never ‘forgot’ to take it with us while on campus. If you decide NOT to stay and live on campus–you’re free to head home each evening. (same price, whether you stay or not).
You can park your car, unload supplies to the sewing room and dorm room, and never leave campus. It’s very relaxing, and having the dedicated sewing time is heaven. (8 a.m. to 10 p.m. – with the room closed to all for an hour at lunch and dinner times).
Get Help With Our Professional Sewing Instructors
Bring your machine and projects to our dedicated sewing studio and take advantage of our professional instructors available for fitting and sewing assistance. All irons, boards, pressing equipment and cutting tables are provided.
Spend time with Others Who Share Your Passion
Only someone who sews really knows that part of you. It is fulfilling to spend time with kindred spirits who understand your need for creativity in a fabric medium. Imagine speaking to people whose eyes don't glaze over when you talk about fabric or sewing!
Only Eighteen Can Participate
Since the wildfires and COVID, Sonoma State University has curtailed the number we can have in the ‘Sewing Studio'. The Fire Marshall wants clear aisles to each exit, so we lost 2 cutting tables, and 4 attendees. In past years, we’ve had up to 23 attend, but since 2022, we are limited to 18 attending. The cost for 2025 registration, Tuesday to Monday, was $955 per person.
So, if you are interested in a week’s long sewing adventure, get on the waitlist.
