REDWOOD STITCHERS' OPEN HOUSE
Stitchers Hold Open House
The Redwood Stitchers host their ninth annual open house on Wednesday, September 12 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Luther Burbank Art & Garden Center, 2050 Yulupa Ave., Santa Rosa. The chapter will exhibit a wide variety of members’ needlework, including cross stitch, needlepoint, Bargello, crewel, Hardanger, Japanese embroidery, blackwork, locker hooking, huck weaving and surface embroidery. Visitors can also view examples of the club’s outreach projects, which range from hand-stitched bookmarks for local schools to cross-stitch “kissing pillows,” which are small keepsakes given to deployed servicemen and women and their family members. Admission is free, and complimentary refreshments will be served. |
At 1 p.m. Kathy Johnson will teach a free class in beginning cross stitch. While stitching with floss on evenweave fabric, participants will learn how to begin and end threads, read diagrams and work two basic stitches as they create a bookmark with a Halloween design. Participants should bring scissors. All other supplies will be furnished. Seating is limited and available on a first-come, first- served basis.
The Redwood Stitchers is a chapter of The Embroiderers’ Guild of America, a national non-profit educational organization. For information, call 707-544-8016 or [email protected]. |
