Community Service Sewing
Use Your Sewing Skills to Give Back to Your Community
ASG Santa Rosa sponsors get-togethers where we make items to donate to non-profits and community organizations. Past items that we have made include quilts for Project Linus, pillowcases for Social Advocates for Youth, cough pillows for surgery patients, doll clothes for Stitchin' for Kids, pods for newborn babies at Marin General Hospital and walker bags for low-income seniors. Our members continually donate hours, skills and supplies to a variety of causes such as bird rescue, repairing fireman's protective gear and knitting hats for newborn preemies.
Bring Your Sewing Machine and Join Us.
Come join DJ and Carole on February 26, 2018 from 11:00 - 2:00. It’s the 4th Monday of the month. We’ll be at Village Sewing Center in Santa Rosa making walker bag kits. If instead you’d like to make some bags you can bring your machine and notions and join us too. We’ll have a few kits ready to sew. But mostly we will be making new kits to distribute to our members at the ASG meetings. Bring a lunch or run out to Subway (in the same center) and join us for a renewal of friendship, sharing of skills and giving to others.
See you MONDAY, FEBRUARY 26 AT VILLAGE SEWING CENTER.
Walker Bags for Seniors
We are currently sewing walker bags for seniors. Our goal for 2017 is 200 walker bags. Ask for a kit at our next meeting or from DJ Colbert or Carole Hamann. Or download our instructions to make a bag from your own fabric.
Here is a "Thank You" message for the walker bags in a newspaper article. See the 5th paragraph.
