Sloper Workshop with Shannon Marshall
There were 13 participants who came for the 2-day Sloper workshop with Shannon Marshall from the Sonoma County Sewing Company. This was a next step in my learning. On the first day we discussed what a Bodice Sloper is and how it is used. We took our measurements and learned how to use those measurements and mark them on the pattern. Okay, where do I go from here? Well, Shannon showed us how to adjust our bodice pattern template and have it become our own and fit our body shape.
We drafted the necessary adjustments, then transferred our pattern to a muslin, sewed it up, and got feedback from Shannon on the fit. We then adjusted the muslin, and tried it on again to get that perfect fit. Here are some pictures of our progress throughout the day.
Everyone who attended both days left with custom-fitted slopers and were overwhelmingly positive about the class.
One person commented that she enjoyed the class a lot and it was a nice blend of new and old faces. She also commented that she was able to correct her existing sloper that had a fit issue that had been pestering her.
Another commented: This class was challenging, and participants and instructor rose to the challenge. Everyone from a beginner, Michelle (who has been sewing for a month) to more seasoned sewers left with a useful muslin.
